Winnie Chen Wang is a trauma-informed licensed acupuncturist and energy healer. Before shadow work, she was a victim and blamed all of her misfortune on her ex-husband. When she ended the marriage, it forced her to come face to face with her shadow.
Dr. Chen is a doctoral candidate in psychology. Before shadow work, she was disempowered and looking to dodge. When she finally shut down after years of denial, she was forced to look at her reverse aspects.
In this book, "Honoring Darkness: Embrace Shadow Work to Nourish and Grow Your Power", they share their journey in compassionately transforming their grief, anger, denial, fear, resentment, conflict, survival mindset, entitlement, manipulation and shame.
Read the book so you can do shadow work and make the sweetest lemonade out of life's sourest lemons!
Shadow work can take us to a very dark place, which is why you want to have a guide who can hold your hand, journey next to you with compassion, and channel for you. Dr. Yi and Master Sha teaches that the ten greatest source attributes are our greatest love, forgiveness, compassion, light, humility, harmony, flourishing, gratitude, service and enlightenment.
The goal of our spiritual journey is to stop blaming and become ONE with the source. Shadow work helps us identify the patterns we are learning to heal.
I am so blessed and grateful to Dr. and Master Sha every day for creating Tao calligraphy and the teachings of the Tao. My spiritual practices and empowerments are my North Star. "Honoring Darkness" is raw, brutally honest, and a great vehicle for transformation. This book provides an opportunity for the reader to change through a clear, step-by-step path. It brought clarity and alignment in my learning. I've been a professional reiki master healer for 8 years and this subject of this book is in my professional wheelhouse.
There are a lot of bits of shadow work in spiritual communities, but not a lot of clear instructions on how to go about implementing it. This is the real deal. It's not some woke-washed culturally appropriated garbage. But it's real and in alignment with the author's lineage.
The authors also have technical, science backgrounds as well as being practitioners of Chinese medicine and spiritual healing. The technical writing and backgrounds really shine in the structure of the book and the clarity of the writing. Every chapter is really a manual to help people address common problems. I especially like all the honest accounts of "mistakes," misses, and "flaws" by the author. I felt seen.
On a more personal level, it takes a lot of courage to share one's successes, flaws, and show how love and redemption can be shared in real, concrete moments that ultimately benefit the reader. I felt my energy, my mind, and my heart change for the better as I read this book.
I laughed, cried and felt an emotional release while reading this book. It really made things in my life make sense that have been plaguing me. I can't wait to buy it for my friends and tell my clients about it. Haven't read another book quite like this.
I highly recommend Honoring Darkness. You will have an opportunity to honor yourself. Winnie is legitimately a Queen of Compassionate Transformation, and I can't wait to experience more of her work.

Honoring Darkness is essential reading for understanding shadow work and deepening our own practice of it. It looks in depth into our shadows in ten dimensions using specific examples from the authors' lives to illustrate each. The work is at turns straight to the point and in textured depth, which makes it a fun read. The book offers examples at the end of each chapter that are invaluable in putting the process outlined in the book to work for the reader. It has been of great use in furthering my own spiritual growth and I feel that it is an essential tool for anyone's self-development. By helping me confront my own shadows and bring them into the light it has expanded my healing practice, expanded my compassion, and opened new parts of myself that had previously been suppressed. I highly recommend this book!
This is a MUST read!
