Patient History

When Yanina, a 38-year-old entrepreneur, first came to Mindful Healing Heart, her question was simple but heartfelt: “What is wrong with me?”

Over the previous six months, her body had seemed to unravel all at once.

She was experiencing recurring hives with relentless itching, along with nausea, headaches, fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, neck stiffness, joint aches, digestive discomfort, and even a persistent buzzing sensation throughout her body. Most nights she woke between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. and struggled to fall back asleep, leaving her exhausted by morning.

Patient History

Initial Assessment

7/10

Anxiety

2/10

Energy

7/10

Hives and itching

At the beginning of care, Yanina rated her anxiety at 7/10, her energy at 2/10, and her hives and itching at 7/10. Nausea was happening daily, and sleep was poor, with some nights bringing only a few hours of rest before she woke again in the early morning.

The combination of physical symptoms and mounting business stress left her feeling depleted and disconnected from her body.

Treatment Approach

Over the next five weeks, Dr. Winnie Chan Wang adjusted Yanina’s acupuncture treatment from session to session based on how her symptoms were changing. Early treatments focused on easing tension, supporting energy, calming chest and skin discomfort, and helping digestion settle. As care progressed, sessions became more targeted toward nausea, itching, bloating, insomnia, and the physical strain of ongoing entrepreneurial stress.

Treatment Approach

Another important part of the work involved the way Yanina related to herself. Instead of repeatedly asking, “What is wrong with me?” She began practicing a gentler phrase: “I love myself.” This was not about ignoring symptoms or replacing medical evaluation. It was about reducing the sense of fighting against her own body while she continued looking for answers and support.

Between sessions, she was encouraged to focus on simple, practical habits such as hydration, a more consistent bedtime, warm foot soaks, and gratitude journaling. Together, these small practices supported the larger goal of helping her body feel more regulated, cared for, and capable of recovering over time.

Progress Over Sessions

1

Week 1

Hives and itching
6/10→3/10

Yanina reported an early shift in several symptoms. Her hives and itching decreased from around 6/10 to 3/10, and nausea, which had been happening daily, dropped to about once every three days.

She was also sleeping seven to eight hours most nights, even if the sleep did not always feel fully restorative.

2

Mid-treatment

Not perfectly linear

Her progress was not perfectly linear. When business stress intensified, some symptoms temporarily returned. At one point, nausea rose to 3.5/10, headaches reached 4/10, and sleep again became disrupted by early-morning waking.

Rather than viewing this as failure, Dr. Winnie Chan Wang continued adjusting treatment based on how Yanina’s body was responding week to week.

3

Week 5

Anxiety
7/10→3/10
Energy
2/10→7/10
Hives and itching
7/10→2/10

By the final reported session, Yanina’s anxiety had decreased from 7/10 to 3/10, her energy had increased from 2/10 to 7/10, and her hives and itching had improved from 7/10 to 2/10. Morning fatigue was also significantly better.

Alongside the physical changes, Yanina described a meaningful emotional shift in how she approached uncertainty and stress. In her own words, “I trust God to give me what is mine and to take away what is not mine.” For her, that growing sense of acceptance became part of the healing process, not as a replacement for medical care, but as a way to move through stress with less fear and resistance.

Outcome

Outcome

Yanina experienced meaningful improvement, but she was not completely symptom-free.

At the last visit documented in these notes, her anxiety was 3/10, insomnia 6/10, hives 3/10, and bloating 4/10. Her case is a valuable reminder that healing under ongoing real-life stress is rarely linear. Symptoms may improve, flare, and shift as circumstances change.

For Yanina, acupuncture provided complementary, body-centered support while she continued navigating the demands of launching her business and pursuing appropriate medical care.

Is This You?

Whether you’re a busy mother, a working professional, an entrepreneur, or simply carrying more than your body has had time to process, stress can show up in many forms. Overthinking may come with nausea, bloating, itching, headaches, jaw tension, fatigue, anxiety, or disrupted sleep, and those symptoms are often more connected than they first appear. At Mindful Healing Heart, Dr. Winnie Chan Wang creates personalized care plans that look at the whole picture rather than treating each symptom in isolation.
