Our Approach to Care

Winnie Chan Wang, Medical Intuitive Acupuncturist

Each case study reflects the same underlying philosophy: care is individualized. Treatment plans are built around the client’s presentation and adjusted from visit to visit rather than following a fixed protocol based solely on diagnosis.

Mindful Healing Heart is led by Winnie Chan Wang, a licensed acupuncturist and Reiki practitioner with a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine who also teaches acupuncture at Alhambra Medical University. Her clinical training is combined with a trauma-informed framework that considers both the physical presentation and the ways stress, prior injury, and nervous-system patterns may influence how symptoms are experienced and maintained.

This approach is reflected throughout the case studies. Musculoskeletal symptoms are treated directly while also being assessed for associated tension, guarding, or stress-related patterns. Each session is documented and reviewed so that care can evolve as the client’s condition, symptoms, and response to treatment change.

What to Expect From a Documented Case

Each case study on this page follows the same structure so you can review them consistently:

1

Presenting concern

Symptoms, relevant history, pain ratings, and clinical observations documented at intake.

2

Treatment approach

The modalities used, including acupuncture, Reiki, Soul Mind Body work, or a combination, and the rationale for the treatment plan.

3

Session-by-session progress

How symptoms and clinical findings changed across visits, including any setbacks, plateaus, or changes in response.

4

Outcome and context

The client’s status at the final documented visit, including any relevant concurrent medical care or treatment.

Using the same format across each case study makes it easier to compare how different concerns were assessed, treated, and followed over time.

Integrative, Not Exclusive

Acupuncture and Reiki-based care at Mindful Healing Heart are provided as complementary support alongside conventional medical and mental-health care. Clients featured in these case studies who were managing active medical conditions, including cancer, continued working with their physicians and specialists throughout treatment.

When a case involves a serious diagnosis, our role is to support the client’s overall wellbeing within their existing care plan. Treatment is designed to complement, rather than direct, alter, or replace, decisions made by the client’s medical team.

Any changes in laboratory results, imaging findings, symptoms, or medical status mentioned in a case study should be interpreted by the appropriate physician or specialist and should not be attributed to acupuncture, Reiki, or Soul Mind Body work alone.
